Flea Prevention and Control

Fleas can cause problems for pets ranging from minor to life-threatening. Not only can these parasites cause severe itching, irritation, and allergies, but they can also transmit tapeworms and diseases. Fleas can infest dogs, cats, ferrets, mice, and rats. And fleas don’t just stay on pets; they can bite people, too. For more information, contact us or see the flea article in the Pet Health Library on our site.

You don’t want these blood-sucking parasites on your pet or in your home. We can help keep them away or help you get rid of them if they’ve already found their way inside. Call us to find out how to eliminate and control fleas or to start your pet on a preventive today.

Seresto Collars – 8 Month Flea & Tick Protection for Dogs & Cats

Collar lasting 8 months providing continual protection against Fleas & Ticks! Collar is non-scented, non-greasy & waterproof!

Come in today to get one for your pet and receive a $15 Mail in Rebate while they last!

seresto collarsIn recent years, Bayer (the same company who manufactures Advantix & Advantage Multi) introduced a revolutionary new technology to control fleas and ticks in the form of a collar. In past years, flea and tick collars have seemed to decrease in efficacy. Most have a constant smell that can be aggravating to you and your pet and can be greasy or not safe for small children playing with the pet. Not this collar!

The Seresto collar has sustained release for up to 8 months and works on a concentration gradient based delivery system. The active ingredients of Seresto are contained within the Bayer Polymer Matrix which the collar is made of. The collar ONLY releases the active ingredients if it senses your pets hair and binds to each individual hair follicle. If the pet looses hair or the product falls off the hair shaft, it moves from the adjacent hair shaft to the empty one(s) until each shaft is covered again!

You can also rest assured the Seresto collar is SAFE if your pet is around small children or other pets, including cats. Bayer submersed their collar in water for 10+ minutes. When the collar was removed and the water was tested, there was NO residue detected in the water. Also, the Seresto collars made for Dogs are the exact collars made for Cats but in a different package!

The collar is water resistant so there is no need to remove it during swimming and bathing. Bayer’s general guideline states to retain the 8 month duration, your pet must not be bathed more than once monthly. If so, the duration is decreased to 6 months.
