FAQs

How often should my pet be groomed?

Frequency of grooming can depend on breed/species and lifestyle of pet. A general guideline would be every 4-8 weeks. Regular grooming for any breed/species is recommended to keep your dog or cat’s coat and skin in the best condition possible. Not only is grooming good to maintain health, it also socializes you pet and gets them used to being brushed, bathed and handled! Shedding undercoat is dramatically decreased with regular grooming.

How soon can I get an appointment?

Amanda’s schedule varies from day to day. Occasionally she will be able to fit your pet in same day but appointments are generally scheduled for several days out. Amanda takes her time with each appointment to ensure the best possible grooming and experience for your pet!

Can I stay and watch my pet be groomed?

Yes! If your pet gets nervous away from you or you are unsure how they will react to being groomed Amanda welcomes owners to stay with their pets. Keep in mind however, some pets do best away from their owners! Amanda always takes her time to get to know each and every animal and gains a pets trust so they are less nervous while being groomed!

How long does grooming take?

Grooming times can vary from pet to pet or with services selected. We generally plan for about 3 hours per pet. They are clipped, bathed and dried then clipped again for optimal results! Beauty and perfection take time!
If you are unable to pick you pet up immediately after grooming they are more than welcome to stay with us until the end of the day with no extra charge. Keep in mind Amanda is only here 9-5 on any given day that she works.

When can I start bringing my puppy for grooming?

We generally recommend starting early with certain “higher maintenance” breeds to get them used to being bathed, brushed and handled. We do recommend waiting until the puppy has had at least 2-3 Distemper vaccines, the kennel cough series (Bordetella) and a Rabies vaccination for their protection and for others. If vaccines are started around 8 weeks of age, generally all vaccinations listed above are completed by 12-16 weeks of age (if proper vaccination guidelines are followed).

What vaccinations are required for my pet in to be groomed?

We require documentation stating your pet has been vaccinated for:

K9 – Rabies, Distemper (DA2PP, DHLPP, DHPP), Bordetella (Kennel Cough)
Fel – Rabies, Distemper (FVRCP), either Leukemia vaccinated or Leukemia(FeLV)/Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) tested negative.
